Winter Field Day
To encourage emergency operating preparedness in the winter,
Winter Field Day
runs for 24 hours during the last full weekend in January each year. January 30-31, 2010
from 1700 UTC Saturday to 1700 UTC (noon EST) Sunday.
Training Day
Training: Feb 14 and Mar 21, 2010.
NVIS & Digital exercises: May 23, 2010.
District exercise: Nov 7, 2010.
Rideau Lakes Cup
The Rideau Lakes Cup Dog Sled Races
run over two days (February 20 & 21, 2010) between Newboro and Chaffeys Locks along the Rideau Canal (start and
finish line at the Newboro Lock Station). Volunteers will be needed to provide communications during the event.
Mini Field Day
We will be deploying portable stations on April 25 and September 26, 2010.
Ottawa-Kingston Bike Tour
The 2010 Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour leaves
Carleton University on June 5 for Kingston, returning from Queen's on June 6 with typically
more than 2000 riders annually. We will be operating portable at roadside in Perth Road Village,
Inverary, Kingston (McAdoo's/Division) and Queen's University. Coverage of the Ottawa and Perth
portions of this 177km journey has
been provided by Ottawa Valley Mobile Radio Club and the
Lanark/North Leeds ARES group.
Field Day
Field Day, traditionally the last full
weekend in June, is an opportunity for hams across North America to put their skills to the test,
deploying antennas, erecting portable stations and making contacts. Setup begins 7pm (local time)
June 25, with station operation extending across a continuous 24-hour period. End 4pm June 27.
Verona Festival
We shall be participating in the
Verona Festival, a traditional country
fair, on August 7-8. This should provide an excellent opportunity to explain to the community what
ham radio is all about.
